Step into Adventure

Explore the Land.

Sometimes life can feel as barren as this land seems, but a closer look will show life is thriving and abundant. Let the stars lead you to new lands to explore and experiences that will last a lifetime.

Explore the Land. Meander the forest looking for firewood. Think back to the smell of the campfire warming your face on cold summer nights under the stars.

Explore the Land.

Hear the rocky crunch under your feet. You’ve been here 100 times, you know the path like the back of your hand. Notice your breath fog in the light from your headlamp, be thankful winter is over and it’s not too cold. Say hello to the critters in the trees as you walk by. It’s probably just bunnies hopping away as you scuffle past lugging your gear along with you.

Tell the bunnies your plan, it helps to rehash it for yourself as well, but if you tell the bunnies then you aren’t technically talking to yourself. Arrive at the first clearing, and take a deep breath.

Notice Scorpius in the sky and know the Milky Way is close behind it.

It’s time to set up your camera. Tripod first, you have to be sure your photos are going to be stable. Open your backpack and secure your camera to the tripod.

Remember your training, be glad you turned the brightness of your camera’s lcd screen down and dialed in the settings for your first test shot. Check your focus, and snap the shutter. Stand back and take it in as more stars become visible and your mind relaxes. Look in excitement as the first photo pops up on the screen in front of you, and you see the faint Milky Way. Success!

Remember your training, check the histogram because the lcd screen will lie to you every time. Check your focus on the photo playback. When everything is ready, set your camera to take 15 more photos, just like the right one. Know your planning was a success and everything lined up just right for you to create art from your experience tonight. Put your camera to work and take 3 steps back.

Do your happy dance, thank the bunnies for their company, and share your intentions once again. Look up at the sky and enjoy the view.

Embrace Mother Nature, accept the star therapy.

Redirect your attention to the foreground, increase your shutter speed to let in more light, and capture the sparse trees that surround you. Take more photos than you planned to, because something caught your eye in the night that you didn’t notice during the daytime scouting trip, or the blue hour foreground session. Promise the bunnies you will leave now, and scuffle back to your car.

Take one last deep breath of the night air and tell the stars you will see them next time.

Go home, get some sleep, and make some art in the morning.

The stars are so many light years away. The cosmos is vast, powerful, never ending. And yet, the Dark Horse large in the sky looks the same size as one of the pine trees scattered on the rocky Earth.

Embrace that feeling, go about your life better for it. You are important. You are meaningful. You have a place here.

Explore the Land 16x20 Fine Art Print
$120.00

A 16×20 inch photo print showing the Milky Way above a flat rocky ground with pine trees scattered throughout. The ground is gray, the trees are dark green, and the sky is bursting with stars. The Dark Horse is prominent in the sky, the stars shine with a large presence that feels fantastical with wonder.

Printed on archival metallic paper, this print will last many years.

It will come titled and signed by me, with a story about the image.

This print will be ready to be matted in a standard 20×24 inch mat cut for a 16×20 picture, inserted in a 20×24 inch picture frame, and hung on your wall. Or simply framed as is in a 16×20 inch frame. Go with what feels right to you. Just know that whatever you decide, the framing job will be simplified due to the standard sizing of the art.

It is my thought that easier framing means you will be able to hang and enjoy your art much sooner.

    • No tax, even in Ohio. I am obligated to charge, track, and pay sales use tax on my items to people in Ohio (where I live). August 1-14 happens to be this year’s tax-free holiday. So for the duration of this sale, there will be no tax on my items, even if you live in Ohio.

  • I named this collection Step into Adventure because it really explores the type of fun we like to have on summer vacations shared with our families.

This art can stir up feelings of epic road trip adventures to once in a lifetime places. Even though none of these images are actually of iconic places, they can instill the same feelings when we let the art speak to our minds, souls, and memories.

Step into adventure can remind you that the regular places you maybe visit(ed) every year are just as important as those once in a lifetime places, as they leave a lasting legacy for your family.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my Artsy Fartsy heart for being here, and stepping into my adventure!

  • After the sale is over:

Ohio tax will go back into effect.

I will be increasing the prices. A discount sale may be available in the future, but the prices will not be as low as this collection launch sale.

Shipping standards will change. If images remain on my website, they will be shipped from the lab with no signature, or double the shipping cost so I can get the image to sign first before I send it to you via USPS.
