Together the sun and the moon make amazing spectacles
You can’t have a solar eclipse without the moon. You can’t have a lunar eclipse without the sun.
The sun is not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Astro Photography, but the sun is a star. When that star, and our moon come together it’s a rare and special spectacular experience. The moon rises up to meet the sun, the sun bends down to kiss the moon, and sometimes Earth jumps in the middle.
Image Name: S-Curve with Totality Cross. A simplified, but still stylized version of the whole total eclipse event. My favorite exposure of the sun at different partial phases before it is covered by the moon in a total eclipse experience. So many cool effects happen during totality, I wanted to show them all as a cross section of the eclipse curve. I included a special one from this eclipse, the solar prominence you could see with your own eyes during the event! “What is that pink spot!?” CLICK THE IMAGE FOR MY ENTIRE ECLIPSE STORY EXPERIENCE!
Image Name: Eclipse Totality. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the whole of the eclipse experience leads to this instant in time. 2 minutes of eerie dimness, full circle sunset colors on the horizon, and the feeling of a black hole looming in the sky. It truly was a fantastical sight to witness. Whether you saw it or not, experience it here in this photo, the Corona of Totality! CLICK THE IMAGE TO SEE MY ENTIRE ECLIPSE STORY!
Image Name: Total Lunar Eclipse. This blood moon eclipse was almost 1 year after the total solar eclipse, and practically in the same position in the sky. I was lucky to see both events in my own back yard! CLICK THE IMAGE TO SEE MORE
Image Name: Eclipse Phase Spiral. My experience in October 2023 watching the Annular Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse from my best friend's back patio. We wore our Luna Lovegood Spectrespecs (which I made by gluing perler beads on the front of real solar glasses) and watched in awe for hours as the moon crossed over the sun. The dance of the day and night. CLICK THE IMAGE FOR EVEN MORE STORY
Image Name: Annular Eclipse in 3 Phases. The yellow and orange color is provided by my solar filter, and it did an outstanding visual job creating an ombre effect with my different camera settings throughout the eclipse. The flow of this image has the ability to just captivate you. CLICK THE IMAGE FOR EVEN MORE STORY
