Total Lunar Eclipse

The Dance of Earth and Moon. The Blood Moon.

The Earth paints the Moon red by cutting in on the Sun.

The night sky is graced with more stars than have any business being visible when the moon is so full.

The moon dims and turns a rusty red color as sunlight filters through our atmosphere.

What was interesting visually about this Lunar Eclipse is the blue shine at the top of the moon that stayed the entire time.

I thought maybe totality hadn’t begun yet when I first started photographing, but it had. The more whitish area just stayed, we can’t tell nature what to do.

2:30AM and my dog kept me company. No way was Rey going to let me go outside by myself in the middle of the night.

This was a special eclipse because it was just me and my dog under the stars. She was kind enough to let me take a selfie of us together and everything. She didn’t knock over my tripod, she just laid in her spot under the tree and kept an eye out for critters.

It was pi day, 3/14/25, almost one year since the total solar eclipse.

I watched this total lunar eclipse in the same place (my back yard) and the event took place in almost the same location of the sky (from my view).

The only logical thing to do was to make a Total Eclipse Mashup!

A very silly video of my 2 eclipse photos and the final mashup.

And you were just like the moon, so lonely, so full of imperfections, but just like the moon, you shined in times of darkness.
